"The therapy room is an arena where people can learn to speak honestly, authentically, and openly about their fears and desires."
Irvin D. Yalom
About Me
I have over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist, supervisor, and coach, working across the public, charity, and independent sectors. My journey into psychotherapy began in the 1990s, and I became a registered Gestalt practitioner in 1999. Over the years, I have broadened my practice to incorporate relational, person-centered, psychodynamic, and group work approaches. This integrative foundation allows me to tailor my work to meet the diverse needs of clients, whether in one-to-one therapy, group settings, or organisational contexts.

In my independent practice, I support individuals facing a range of challenges, including work-related stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and low self-esteem. I also provide clinical supervision to therapists and practitioners in public, private, and third-sector roles. My approach blends my psychotherapy training with insights gained from my coaching background, creating a reflective and supportive space for clients to explore and grow.

Alongside my clinical work, I have held senior leadership roles where I’ve drawn on my psychotherapeutic expertise to shape services and teams. As Clinical Manager for a not-for-profit organisation, I developed trauma-informed services for survivors of abuse. For the past 12 years, as Head of Mental Health, Counselling, and Wellbeing Services at the University of Sheffield, I led a nationally recognised service, ensuring its practices were of the highest quality, client-focused and responsive to the evolving needs of students and staff.

My contributions extend to broader organisational and sector-wide initiatives. I have held Board positions and currently serve as a Senior Clinical Assessor for Student Minds. Previously, I have been an assessor for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the British Psychological Society’s Accreditation Programme for Psychological Therapies Services (APPTS). This experience allows me to apply my clinical insight to evaluate services and support their development within complex organisational contexts. I am passionate about the role of research in improving practice and have collaborated on numerous initiatives and publications.
My Approach
I have a deep understanding of the interpersonal dynamic. I aim to help you make sense of your experiences and relationships and how you engage with the world around you. I work collaboratively, offering a space where we can explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours.

My approach is relational and tailored to help you navigate personal challenges, uncover patterns, and co-create new ways of being. Whether you're dealing with personal relationship difficulties or workplace struggles, we will work together to uncover patterns and co-create healthier ways of being.
My work with the Tavistock coaching programme brings a systemic and psychodynamic perspective to my work. This includes an exploration of unconscious processes, relational patterns, and group dynamics, helping us understand the interconnected influences of individual experiences and wider systems.

Drawing on concepts such as valencies—the unconscious predispositions that shape how we take up roles and emotional states within relationships or systems—we can better understand recurring dynamics in your personal and professional life. By illuminating these patterns, we can co-create more intentional, adaptive, and fulfilling ways of engaging with the world around you.

My practice draws on person-centred and Gestalt psychotherapy, integrative approaches, and executive coaching training and all of my experience, as a practitioner, manager and senior leader.
